About Tara DeSelms
Tara is a Nashville native, following in her father, Terry DeSelms, footsteps. She is a mother of two, VP of the Greater Nashville REALTORS® Board of Directors, co-chair of the Tennessee REALTORS® Professional Standards Committee, and head of the DeSelms Team of six. Her team won the Greater Nashville REALTORS® Diamond Elite Award for their sales volume. She and her team also help build affordable and quality homes with their volunteer work through Habitat for Humanity.

When asked what she loves most about her job, Tara said, “ I love meeting new clients and learning about their stories and how I can help them be successful in their home purchase or sale. Each client and situation is so unique, and I enjoy coming up with a strategy so our clients can accomplish their goals.” She sees her clients as friends for life, not transactions.
Essential Things to Consider When Purchasing a Home
Tara says there are two equally important things to consider when purchasing a home:
- If you plan to live in the home – it should feel like a home to you. (everyone’s definition of “home” is different)
- Real estate is one of the most significant ways to build wealth, so finding a home that is also a good investment is key.
Nashville’s Real Estate Market
Tara has traveled the world, and her travels continually remind her how special Nashville is. When asked about one thing people should know about Nashville’s market, she said, “We are a growing city with a small-town feel, which is rare. Because of this, Nashville will always be a hot real estate market, which means the value of our homes will continue to increase.” Tara advises that NOW is the best time to get into the Nashville real estate market because it shows no signs of slowing down.
A Tip From Tara
Tara said purchasing a home can be emotional, and even as an expert in real estate, she would still hire a REALTOR® for buying or selling personally. She suggests having a great REALTOR®, mortgage lender, and title company can help handle the business aspect of purchasing or selling a home.
